Fine Print releases 2/1/2010! To celebrate, I’m having a little giveaway. All you have to do is comment on this post. I don’t care what, even just a smiley face, to get your name in the hat. I’ll notify the winner, who will have his/her choice of an electronic copy of any of my backlist books.

Contest ends on 131, and I’ll announce the winner here on the first of February.

Also, don’t forget my Print Book Reader Appreciation Giveaway, there is still some time to participate. Buy a print copy, and get an ebook free!

Now, to whet your appetite, here is a short excerpt from Fine Print: (more…)

What’s Going On?

A whole lot of things, and a whole lot of nothing. I’ve started yet another project. That makes number seven that I’ve started in the past four months. Some of these I’ve only written five thousand words, others up to fifteen thousand. I write until another story starts screaming to be written. I suppose I’ll get them all finished eventually.  A few projects for Olivia, a few for Alanna. Sometimes we switch in the middle. No, I don’t have multiple personality disorder. Yet. I suppose there is time.

Presently, I’m working on a 30k contemporary western, a joint project with two other authors. We’re hoping to get three western shorts together for an anthology. More information as that develops.

I’m taking part in a progressive story blog hop on Groundhog Day, 2/2/10. I was assigned to chapter one, which means I have to wait to see what the rest of the authors on the tour will do with the story I set up. It should be a great time, and I expect some laughs when romance authors join forces with horror writers. Check back here on 2/2 for chapter one, and I’ll link to chapter two and so on.

Another blog tour on Valentine’s Day weekend. This one will be huge, already over thirty bloggers have signed up for this one. Thanks to Michael from HartShine Design, this one will be a guided tour. Want to learn more? Bookmark this page, this is where we’ll post the link to the tour launch page. Tons of prizes are up for grabs, so mark your calendars…you don’t want to miss this one.

Congrats!

Congratulations go to Stephanie, the winner of Preja Vu from the Fill-Your-Ereader Blog Tour yesterday. Also, I drew a winner for my weekly ebook giveaway, and congrats go to Andrea who chose Retreat. (Good choice, since Andrea is the heroine’s name in Retreat!)

This morning I was pleasantly surprised to find a smiley face in my in-box. Preja Vu was read by Seriously Reviewed. This reviewer gave Preja Vu a 9 for the story, and another 9 for presentation, for a final score of 1820.  Here is the review:

HOLY CRAP!!! Let me start by saying that I was skeptical when I first grabbed this one. Though the blurb was interesting it didn’t just reach out and grab me by the nose.….BUT once I got started reading, I just couldn’t stop!!!
What a nifty little mystery with some sexiness right smack dab in the middle! By page 30 I thought I had it all figured out. I was sure I knew who the bad guy was and I was just waiting for the shoe to drop. BOY HOWDY did I get thrown a curve ball!
Ms Coca, SNAPS you did a great job! Totally kept me involved and interested and then WHAM! gave me a big shock! LOVED IT! I will be looking for your name in the future :)”

Thank you Seriously Reviewed! I’m glad you enjoyed Preja Vu. Scroll down a bit for a small excerpt and pictures of Trevor Kearney, the hero who falls hard for Ryann.

We’re already planning a weekend-long blog tour for Valentine’s weekend, so you’ll be able to spend time with your honey, and also get in on some great eye candy and amazing ebook prizes. More information to follow, so keep checking back, or click on that little rss feed there in the upper right hand corner of this blog page. No…a little to the right.…yeah there ya go.

Alright, back to the word processor, the characters are calling.

Blog Tour — Fill Your E‑Reader Here!

So, you’ve found your way from Annie Nicholas’ blog! This is the last stop of the day, but of course you’re more than welcome to go back to the beginning at Paige Tyler’s site, and start all over again. I wouldn’t blame you at all. I’m giving away a copy of my contemporary novel For a Price, a story about what *really* happens in Vegas.

Anyone who knows me, knows my unhealthy crush on Mr. Channing Tatum. Even though he still has yet to show up to my house for dinner. That’s okay Chan…we can eat out…Oh, Mr. Tatum. How you tempt me with your stoicism.     I think there’s plenty of room on the back of that bike for me…maybe the front

Okay, so there are other things about Channing that I find tempting.

Oh, look at that, my hands were accidentally shown in the picture. And no, I will not share all the measurements I took *vbg*

I hope you all enjoyed the tour. Good luck to each of you! We’ll draw the winners tomorrow, and post them by 1pm EST in this Liquid Silver Books Forum Thread. Now, since you’re all done with the tour, please come by the Chat Room hosted by author Gem Sivad.

Fill Your E‑reader Blog Tour

Welcome to my blog! You should have come from Ella Drake’s site, and if you’re just stumbling across this post, head on over to Paige Tyler’s place, that’s where the fun began. I hope you take some time to look around. My contribution to the grand prize is a copy of my contemporary romantic suspense  Préjà Vu. Ryann can see the future, and one night she gets a glimpse of a steamy encounter with Trevor Kearney. Here is a tiny excerpt, and a picture of how I see Trevor…just to get your imaginations going. See those green eyes? I’m a sucker for green eyes…

Please!”

Ryann was sitting upright in her bed. The sheet fell away from her to pool at her waist. She had no idea if she actually shouted the one word, or if it had been part of the dream, but it woke her just the same.

She gathered the sheet into a moist wad at her chest. She was shivering. Cold? No, she was covered with perspiration, even the tee shirt she wore was damp.

Oh yes … a dream. A wonderful dream. It was sinful in its eroticism, alarming with its clarity. Ryann closed her eyes to replay it. It began with sound only. Blackness surrounded her.

She was lying in bed. Completely nude. A heavy arm was wrapped around her, a wall of masculinity pressed against her back. She was being slowly awakened by a playful tongue batting against her earlobe.

Mmm … Trevor?”

Yes ma’am. At your service,” his low voice rumbled through the stillness.

She grinned, but didn’t open her eyes. “What are you doing?” she moaned.

Shh … I’m sleeping. I’m having the most amazing dream…”He continued his seduction of her ear, then moved his lips down along the slim line of her neck.

His breath felt hot on her skin. Her temperature rose to match it; blood flooded her from head to toe.

Ryann turned her head to reach his mouth. He met her lips with a kiss filled with carnal energy. His velvety tongue speared into her mouth and stroked hers until she writhed against him in effort to get ever closer. One strong hand slid up her torso until it covered her breast, her nipple puckered in full arousal. When he rolled it between two fingers, she squealed then struggled to turn toward him. Only then did she open her eyes.

So now you know what Ryann saw when she opened her eyes. Not a bad way to wake up, right? Okay, so really this guy’s name is Nic Luhrs, but I’m allowed creative liberties, right?

I’ve had a few dreams that I wish were prophetic… not the showing-up-to-work-without-a-shirt dream…I can do without those.

Also, I’m running a little giveaway of my own. Buy any of my available print books, and go into a weekly drawing for your choice of ebook! Details are here on my GIVEAWAY page. The weekly drawings will only go through the end of February, so do it now!

Okay folks, leave your comments, and it’s on to the next stop on our tour, which is Pinching Abe’s blog.

Don’t get any crazy ideas, Abe isn’t one of our hotties…

Thanks for stopping by!

The Last Day, And The First Day

Today is the last day of 2009. What a year! Although I should lament about the state of the economy, or the fact that I’m not getting any younger, I have to say that I’ll always remember 2009 as being a great year for me.

My first book Wyoming Solace came out two weeks before 2008 ended. Since then, I’ve written and sold another six books. I’ve learned a lot, grown a lot, met some great authors, editors, publishers, cover artists, and twitter friends (you know who you are). I’ve learned more than I ever thought I wanted to know about the internet, blogging, website upkeep, (I now know what CSS stands for, but HTML is still a mystery), and social networking, and I’ve learned a fraction of what I want to know about writing and publishing.

There’s always next decade, right?

I hope that all of you had a great 2009, and will have an even better 2010.

So what’s on tap? I’ve got several stories in the works, a few for me, a few for Olivia. I’m sure that my recent slump of writing angst is over (right?!) and I’ll be kicking out at least another six novels this year. I also have a trip coming up in April to the RT Convention in Columbus OH. I hope I get to meet a plethora of romance geniuses, and if I rub up on them, their greatness will soak in by osmosis.

Short Stories

I just finished round one of edits for Position Secured, my short story at Samhain Publishing. It was fairly painless, but what do you expect from a short? I made a Â few silly errors, so I’m glad that my editor Linda caught them before I embarrassed myself.  Also, I found out that Amanda Kelsey does cover work for Samhain, and I did a little happy dance. I’ll be requesting her handiwork on Position Secured, so cross your fingers that they’ll let me have her.

In other news, I’m about half-way through another short story, still untitled. Short stories are easier in some ways — if I concentrate, I could have one done in a few days — but it’s extremely hard to make a sensible plot and developed characters in 20k words. Someone once told me that a short story is just one long scene. I think that’s a pretty good way to look at it. I might throw a few flashbacks in there, or two semi-long scenes instead of one…who knows. This is new to me. I’ll never stop writing longer novels though; I really like getting into these character’s heads. As a reader I like to feel along with the heroine. Heartache, loss, love, fear…whatever she’s got going on. I like personal involvement. The trick is to write stories that do the same for my readers.

Okay, I’d better get back to work. 2009 was great for me, I hope 2010 is even better. Happy New Year everyone!

Bastina’s Necklace by Roscoe James

bastinasnecklaceOkay, I’m no professional reviewer, but I just finished reading this novel, and it deserves a shout out.

Bastina’s Necklace is a sci-fi erotic romance with a pirate, a princess, an interracial love affair, action, adventure, and… geez, what more could you ask for? Here’s a little synopsis (Don’t worry, no spoilers)

The Galactic League of Planets created a terraformed world for the Bastinans. They also provided the biggest and fastest space vessel ever built to transport them to their new home. Princess Anleen decided that the space-ark could be put to better use. She defies the law and even her own father the King when she quietly steers the ark toward her home planet. She is determined to prove once and for all that the legend known as planet Bastina isn’t just a fairytale.

When Captain Dirk Roberts seeks safe haven at the doomed planet Aznate, he’s only looking for a hot shower, a drink or three at the last spacer bar on the edge of known civilization, and repairs for his ship. What he finds instead is Anleen, the golden-haired princess with a plan. She’s dead set on finding her lost people, and he can’t seem to keep away from her long enough to deny her anything, including his assistance. Now…if only he believed that her fairytale could come true, perhaps he could help her rewrite the ending.

Intriguing? Yeah it is. Would you like to read my unofficial review? (more…)

Doll by Juniper Bell

Doll by Juniper BellLooking for a great read while you relax after spending a day at the mall? Or maybe you browsed bookstore after bookstore looking for a perfect gift…

Good thing you stopped by. This is Doll by Juniper Bell. You’ll be able to pick this up from Samhain Publishing on Tuesday 12/15/09.

What is Doll all about? Glad you asked…

Even a plaything can be pushed too far…

Chloe Barnes thought her marriage to a wealthy politician would be the stuff of fairy tales. Instead, he took advantage of her naiveté and used her as a plaything to fulfill his twisted sexual needs. Ten years is enough. She returns to Bellhaven Island to sell the summer cottage she inherited, hoping the money will buy her freedom–and custody of her daughters.

Fisherman Dustin McDougal never forgot the childhood crush he once had on the fairy-like Chloe. The woman she’s become has a haunted look that brings his feelings back, stronger than ever…with a mature edge. Along with all his protective instincts.

Their passion blows stronger than a Maine nor’easter, awakening Chloe to the joy of true love. Yet it may not be strong enough to free her from the past…

Warning: This title contains politicians doing all sorts of nasty things and flashbacks of male domination. It also features hot sex on a boat, hot sex in an attic, hot sex on a work bench…you get the idea. Want to read a very sexy excerpt? (more…)
