Six Sentence Sunday 9/26/10

Happy Sunday folks!

.

The weeks are just flying by. I think it’s the end of summer that has me scrambling to enjoy every minute without snow. It went too quickly!

I don’t want to talk about it. Let’s just move on with the SSS post shall we?

She left the couch–because he picked it out–and she left the kitchen appliances. The housekeeper was happy enough when she gave her the rest of the month off with pay, Jack would either have to learn how to cook, or eat out a lot. She left the computer–the incriminating files in the printer tray–and she left the bed just the way it was. She could barely walk into the room, let alone go near that damn bed again.

At the front door, Jack ran one hand through his hair, and shoved the other in his front pocket. Brynn recognized the gesture as one that he resorted to when he needed to control his emotions. Seeing him this way only strengthened her resolve.

That’s it from me, but  be sure to check the other participants at the official website. Thanks for stopping by!

Six Sentence Sunday 9/19/10

Ah, Sunday again. I’m not a big fan of the day, since I have to work, but it’s all good. I hope you’re all hopping along the trail of Six Sentence participants today in my absence. Don’t wear those pages out,  I want to read them when I get home!

On with today’s post, continuing from last week:

She allowed the fury to fester and boil inside her. She actually reveled in the power it churned. If for some reason Jack thought he could bluff his way out of it, he would be surprised when he walked through the front door. After sending him the email with proof of his infidelity, Brynn spent the next two hours and six packs of sticky notes, marking everything she owned for the twelve burly men that showed up within twenty minutes of her summons. Greenbacks always were the best motivators. The storage facility should be filling up quite nicely by now.

Oh, I love it when six lines ends in a paragraph. I’m a little anal about that sometimes.  Have a great Sunday everyone!

Free Read

My alter ego Olivia Brynn, as she worked on the developmental edits for Tessa’s Pride, cut an entire chapter from the manuscript. Since the chapter was more of a prologue than a chapter one, Olivia, being the smart one, decided to tweak it a bit and offer it as a prequel to the book which comes out in February from Carina Press.

Thanks to Michael from Hartshine Design for the beautiful cover! Just click on that to be taken right to Olivia’s site, where you can download the pdf. One warning though, if you don’t know anything about Olivia’s work, it’s certainly isn’t for the easily shocked or embarrassed. This is not your grandmother’s romance.

Enjoy!

Six Sentence Sunday 9/12/10

Another Sunday, another six sentences from my WiP. After continuing progress on this, it turns out that everything you’ve read up to this point has now been cut from the ms. It just didn’t seem like the right place to start, so instead the book will begin as below, where Jack comes home after work:

.

Even from her vantage point on the third floor, she could see the wary expression on her husband’s face. Usually Jack parked in the garage, but today he parked the Mercedes out front and strolled up the cobblestone walkway with purpose. He hadn’t even loosened his tie, which indicated that he was still strung tight. All business. On a normal day, she would wonder if something had gone wrong at the dealership, but today she knew exactly why he was still buttoned up.

He read the email.

Be sure to visit the Six Sentence Sunday site to see all the other author’s offerings. Have a great week!

Six Sentence Sunday 9/5/10

Guess what!? The plot issue that I’ve affectionately named “Parker’s Plot Problem” has been solved! That means this story you’ve been reading six sentences a week is now on its way to being written!

What a relief. This book is one of my favorite works in progress, and the PPP was driving me crazy. Now maybe you won’t catch up to me! Okay, on with the story:

Brynn started her car, but sat behind the wheel for a moment. Six years of her life that she’d never get back, with the man who swore his undying love and fidelity. Six years of building a home with him, and it took less than two hours to pack it all up. Four suitcases piled in the back of her Escalade, two garment bags held her suits and gowns. The Howerton Hotel had a superb service. They would unpack and press her things once she settled in.

One less thing to worry about.

With one long sigh, Brynn left the restaurant and made her way to the hotel, her new home for the next week at least.

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the Six Sentence Sunday official website. Also, I’m smack dab in the middle of a blog hop. Labor Day Blog Hop

Happy Labor Day! Thanks to Booknibbles.com for the wonderful tour! If you’re just coming across this post, you can catch the beginning HERE. I hope each of you indulges in a char-broiled burger to say goodbye to summer. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m very *very* sad to see summer go.  [pout] Now, on to the fun part. In the tradition of my weekly Hump Day Hotties, I’m adding a scene to the guy. I can’t help it. When I see a picture like this, my brain comes up with all kinds of scenarios. Here’s one:

So it was Labor Day weekend, and I really wasn’t looking forward to a sixteen hour drive to the coast, but Brad promised that he’d do most of the driving. He also promised we’d stop at my favorite restaurant for lunch. And dinner. By midnight, I couldn’t stay awake, and I curled up in the passenger seat and fell asleep with our favorite band in the CD player, and watching Brad nod his head and tap the beat on the steering wheel.

I don’t know how long I was out, but when I woke up, we were on the side of the road. Brad was fast asleep in the driver’s seat. I stared. I couldn’t help it.  He’d taken off his shirt, and he looked so damn beautiful in the dim light of the rest stop lights. When looking wasn’t enough anymore, I reached over and as carefully as I could, released the buckle of his belt. When he didn’t stir, I started on his button fly. I leaned back to enjoy the view, and only then noticed that Brad wasn’t sleeping anymore.

Okay, on to the next blog. I hope you make it to the end, where I’ll be giving away a copy of the winner’s choice of my backlist (you can find them here). Also, I hope to see a lot of you blog hoppers at Gem Sivad’s Chat Room during one of the times listed at the end. We always have a lot of fun. See you there!

Six Sentence Sunday 8/29/10

Welcome back. Today’s Six Sentences (+) continue from last week (I feel like I need to insert some sappy soap-opera music here or something).

.

.

I need to get going too.” Brynn gathered her purse, and tucked a tip under her water glass. “I’ll wait for your email. After I look through it, I’ll give you a call.”

Susan nodded and squeezed out of the booth. “Call me if you need anything tonight after you talk to Jack. I’m free after six, even if you just want to go for a drink.”

Brynn held the front door for her friend. “I appreciate that. I’m actually looking forward to this.”

Susan flushed. “I wish I could be a fly on the wall tonight. On second thought, no I don’t. You know how I feel about confrontation.” She shuddered. “Take care Brynn.”

Don’t forget to visit the Six Sentence Sunday site for other participating authors. Have a great week, everyone!

Six Sentence Sunday 8/22/10

Good morning everyone! I’ve got six more sentences from my WiP here, and maybe now that school is back in session I can actually get to work on some of it. Continuing from last week:

Brynn waited for the congratulatory giggle, but it never came. She rolled her eyes. Susan’s big heart wouldn’t be able to stand it if someone was hurt, even if he deserved it. “Don’t worry Sue, he won’t be destitute. He’s got a job.”

Susan dropped her focus to her cell phone on the table. “Oh…gee…I need to go. I’m showing a house at four.”

Not sure reading a book six sentences a week is the best way to do it, but at this rate, it’s about as fast as I’m writing the thing! Have a great Sunday everyone, and don’t forget to check out the official site for more SSS authors.

Six Sentence Sunday 8/15/10

Happy Sunday everyone! It’s a chilly day on top of this mountain. Autumn is in the air, and I’m not very happy about it.

My six sentence offering this week, continuing the story from last week:

He gave up gambling long before I met him. While the crew loaded the truck I read the agreement over. When I’m done with him, he’s going to have to rent a room at the YMCA.”

Brynn laughed at her friend’s shock. Susan’s face paled to a gruesome shade, and her eyes danced over Brynn’s face. “So he gets…nothing?” she squeaked.

Nothing but the clothes on his back. And the bed where he slept with the slut, since I’m so generous.”

Oh my God.”

Be sure to visit the official site for more SSS participants! Thanks for dropping by!

Six Sentence Sunday 8/8/10

Another Sunday, another six sentences from my untitled WiP. I really can’t wait to get back to work on this. I finished two short stories for Olivia, and then went right into edits for her February release Tessa’s Pride.

Okay, enough blabbering. On with the  post:

When I entered into the agreement to purchase the Bone and Joint Clinic, my lawyer got a little nervous about Jack’s financial responsibility; he’d already claimed bankruptcy once. It was a condition to my partnership.”

I…I didn’t know. You never said anything…”

Brynn shrugged. “That was almost seven years ago, and I hadn’t thought about it since.”

That’s it for me. I’ve got a full day ahead at the Evil Empire. Enjoy your Sunday! Don’t forget to visit the official website for more SSS participants!

Fine Print Gets Top Pick

.

.

Fine Print was reviewed over at Night Owl Reviews, and Mary gave my contemporary romance the Top Pick seal! Here’s a little of what she had to say:

Man Derek Martinez is one hot guy worth having even for a little fling. These two were great and man the passion between them is hotter than ever. Alanna definitely has a hit with this one and I can’t wait for more from this talented author.

You can read the entire review here, and click on the book to see more information about Fine Print, including a book trailer, excerpt, and character biographies.
