Howdy! It’s autumn in Wyoming, so the leaves are changing color, and the air is getting brisk.  Here’s what I’ve accomplished this week:

Work in Progress News ~ I haven’t written anything new in what feels like months! I just finished tweaking Retreat. I’m hoping to get it up on the sales sites almost immediately after the old version is pulled, but I’m not exactly sure how I’ll do with that timing. There might be a lapse. Olivia got the official blurb for Last Call from Samhain Publishing (their blurb guru is amazing)

Industry News ~ I love this week’s headline. HarperCollins Publishers Making 5000 Titles Available Print on Demand. That’s great news! They’re the first of the “big six” to embrace POD publishing. This will mean fewer “out of print” titles, larger availability, and a much happier environment.

New York, NY, — In a first from a major trade publisher, HarperCollins Publishers today announced “Comprehensive Backlist.” This program will allow all physical bookstores, from the largest to the smallest, to promote and sell the HarperCollins backlist through in-store “Digital-to-Print at Retail” (DPR) using the Espresso Book Machine (EBM). The program will enable bookstores to offer thousands of trade paperback books from the HarperCollins catalog through a mix of traditionally printed books and DPR, as space and cash flow restrictions will no longer be a factor. DPR editions will be sold on an agency model. It is expected that the independent bookstores that already have the Espresso Book Machine in place will join the program.

If you don’t know what the EBM is, click that link for a YouTube video. It’s the future of publishing, y’all.
Real Life News ~ I got nothin. I’m pretty much a boring person lately. I actually worked a whole bunch at my part time job this past week. I’ll blame my boring-ness on that.
Search Term of the week aka How People Found My Websites ~ This week I got a whole lot of folks searching for cinemagraphs. Now there are plenty of those out there, but they ended up on my Cinecover page, where I’ve put all my new animated book covers. Aren’t they gorgeous? I mean really, why not have some fun with e‑book covers? Thanks to Michael at Booknibbles.com for my new eye candy.

Hero Quote ~ From my untilted work in progress:  “I don’t even know who I am.” Noah spoke through his teeth. “Do you know what that’s like? To not even recognize yourself?”

Favorite Song of the Week ~ A new one by Matt Nathanson. This one makes me smile.

That’s it for me. I hope you all have a great week!

Whadd'ya think?
