Okay, so the week we\u2019ve had here in the USA<\/span> is enough to make a per\u00adson wish there was anoth\u00ader big beau\u00adti\u00adful Earth we could escape to, where there isn\u2019t any\u00adone out there try\u00ading to hurt oth\u00aders. Well, we\u2019ve only got this one, and sci\u00aden\u00adtif\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly, we\u2019re pret\u00adty damn lucky that all the cos\u00admos aligned so pre\u00adcise\u00adly to give us life of all kinds. So I\u2019ll list for you some of my favorite things about our home plan\u00adet, and the wild and won\u00adder\u00adful set\u00adting of a few books, includ\u00ading Treat (Free Read!)<\/a> Retreat<\/a>, and Wyoming Solace<\/a>, which comes out in paper\u00adback on May 5th!<\/p>\n

The books are set in the fic\u00adtion\u00adal V\u2011Bar Ranch, which is based off the very real Vee Bar Guest Ranch, which is nes\u00adtled against the Snowy Range Moun\u00adtains. As the name sug\u00adgests, the high alti\u00adtude main\u00adtains snow\u00adpack year round. Though it\u2019s pret\u00adty crisp in the spring, the mod\u00ader\u00adate tem\u00adper\u00ada\u00adtures in the sum\u00admer are gorgeous.<\/div>\n

The Flo\u00adra:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

This is the Indi\u00adan Paint\u00adbrush, or more pre\u00adcise\u00adly, the\u00c2 Castille\u00adja mini\u00ada\u00adta<\/em>, a native wild\u00adflower, and the Wyoming State Flower. The Native Amer\u00adi\u00adcans used these to make their hair shine, and also for med\u00adi\u00adc\u00adi\u00adnal uses such as an immune sys\u00adtem boost, treat\u00adment for rheuma\u00adtism, and also to treat sex\u00adu\u00adal\u00adly trans\u00admit\u00adted diseases.<\/div>\n

Okay, so not the most majes\u00adtic look\u00ading ani\u00admal in the state, but this is the Wyoming Toad, or\u00c2 Bufo (Anaxyrus) bax\u00adteri<\/em> which was placed on the endan\u00adgered species list in the 1970s, and assumed to be extinct by 1980. In 1987 a pre\u00adcious few were redis\u00adcov\u00adered. Now this lit\u00adtle three-inch guy is only sur\u00adviv\u00ading in cap\u00adtiv\u00adi\u00adty in a wildlife refuge near the Snowy Range Mountains.\n
