I&nbsp;fol\u00adlow most rules. (Except that dumb one about speed\u00ading.) Maybe this is why I\u2019m strug\u00adgling with my lat\u00adest Work in Progress.\u00c2&nbsp; There are some rules, whether writ\u00adten or just under\u00adstood, about romance nov\u00adels. Must have the rela\u00adtion\u00adship as the main com\u00adpo\u00adnent to the plot (obvi\u00adous\u00adly). Must be writ\u00adten in the hero\u00adine\u2019s point of view for the most part. (I like a&nbsp;60% 40% rela\u00adtion\u00adship myself.) Must have a&nbsp;hap\u00adpi\u00adly ever after(<span class=\"caps\">HEA<\/span>). (Some pub\u00adlish\u00aders are hap\u00adpy with a&nbsp;HFN-Hap\u00adpy for now though) Main char\u00adac\u00adters must be intro\u00adduced with\u00adin the first two chapters.<\/p>\n<p>This is where I\u2019m strug\u00adgling with my work in progress. I&nbsp;just start\u00aded chap\u00adter three, and am only now intro\u00adduc\u00ading my hero. Will read\u00aders put my book down at the end of chap\u00adter two, dis\u00adgust\u00aded because they haven\u2019t met Fabio? Should I&nbsp;care about the rules? Aren\u2019t they tried and true, test\u00aded on mil\u00adlions of read\u00aders? Should one romance author from Lit\u00adtle Town Wyoming real\u00adly be the one to buck the sys\u00adtem? What if I&nbsp;just go all out and make my hero into a&nbsp;pot-bel\u00adlied home\u00adless man who is ugly as&nbsp;sin?<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll just keep writ\u00ading. If it gets reject\u00aded for pub\u00adlish\u00ading, then I&nbsp;guess we\u2019ll know for sure.
