I say \u201cat least\u201d because I\u2019ll be donat\u00ading any\u00adway, but this way you can con\u00adtribute to the sentiment!<\/p>\n

The first time I heard some\u00adone use the phrase \u201cdead tree\u201d to describe a paper\u00adback book, it kin\u00adda struck me as sad. Thanks to dig\u00adi\u00adtal for\u00admats, books are being pro\u00adduced with\u00adout any eco\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal waste! Even if you don\u2019t own an e\u2011reader (yet\u2026good luck in the draw\u00ading!) you can enjoy dig\u00adi\u00adtal books on your com\u00adput\u00ader, or even your cell phone! There is real\u00adly no excuse to be away from your favorite reads. To tell the truth, I now look for\u00adward to a few hours between flights at the airport.<\/p>\n

I changed into my Olivia Brynn sweater to find two char\u00adac\u00adters in my books who will be cel\u00ade\u00adbrat\u00ading Earth Day in earnest. Jade and Dean from Falling Star<\/a> are two friends and botanists who own Earth Scents Florists. I\u2019ll share with you the green\u00adest excerpt I\u2019ve got of these two, which only hints at the joys the earth can bring if only you know where to look. This excerpt begins as Dean and Jade join Adam, a coun\u00adtry music star, at his home for dinner.<\/p>\n

Dean filled her in on the week\u00adend at Earth Scents in between Adam\u2019s direc\u00adtions to his house. When they pulled into a huge cir\u00adcu\u00adlar dri\u00adve\u00adway, Adam hand\u00aded Dean a key to the pan\u00adel cam\u00adou\u00adflaged by dec\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtive stone, and the tall iron gate opened.<\/p>\n

Jade had a hard time keep\u00ading her mouth closed. She\u2019d seen tele\u00advi\u00adsion shows that show\u00adcased celebri\u00adty hous\u00ades, and she could almost hear Robin Leach\u2019s voice point\u00ading out amenities.<\/p>\n

The dark brick dri\u00adve\u00adway bor\u00addered the neat\u00adly trimmed front lawn, sur\u00adround\u00aded by native trees and boul\u00adders. The botanist in her sali\u00advat\u00aded at the well-main\u00adtained foliage, and could\u00adn\u2019t wait to walk through the prop\u00ader\u00adty and cat\u00ada\u00adlogue each species. A dec\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtive foun\u00adtain sat in the cen\u00adter of the dri\u00adve, angels and birds of white mar\u00adble direct\u00ading water flow back into the basin.<\/p>\n

Dean stopped the car in front of the door. The stoop was cov\u00adered in a lush green vine, clema\u00adtis, if she was\u00adn\u2019t mis\u00adtak\u00aden, and gave the entrance an invit\u00ading feel.<\/p>\n

<\/a>\u201c<\/span>You can just park here, unless you want it in the garage,\u201d Adam told Dean. Jade pressed her fore\u00adhead against the car win\u00addow to see the house in its entire\u00adty. A two sto\u00adry Eng\u00adlish Manor-style brick estate, with huge arch\u00ading win\u00addows that emit\u00adted a warm yel\u00adlow glow from the spa\u00adcious rooms inside. The clema\u00adtis climbed all the way to the roof, drap\u00ading the grey and maroon brick with a lush green shroud.<\/p>\n

Adam opened her door for her, and smiled at her expression.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Do you like it?\u201d<\/p>\n

She nod\u00added, try\u00ading not to look like a coun\u00adtry bump\u00adkin with her first look at indoor plumb\u00ading. \u201cI sup\u00adpose you already have a gar\u00adden\u00ader\u2026\u201d Who\u00adev\u00ader land\u00adscaped the front lawn knew what they were doing. Jade spun around for a full look at the Eden-like setting.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>There\u2019s always room for one more.\u201d Adam reached to pull her into his arms.<\/p>\n

\u201cJade! It\u2019s Tropae\u00adolum majus!\u201d Dean was on his knees in front of a bricked-in enclo\u00adsure between the dri\u00adve\u00adway and the home. Jade rushed over and mind\u00adless of her attire, knelt beside him.<\/p>\n

The plant was gor\u00adgeous, the bloom was a per\u00adfect red-orange spec\u00adi\u00admen, opened to its full glo\u00adry and releas\u00ading the dis\u00adtinc\u00adtive per\u00adfume in the evening breeze. \u201cIt\u2019s amaz\u00ading! But I can\u2019t tell if it\u2019s from the T. moritzanum or T. pel\u00adtopho\u00adrum, it has both characteristics.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>It must be a hybrid. Who\u00adev\u00ader plant\u00aded this knew their stuff. Look how it\u2019s flour\u00adish\u00ading along with the Trifolium.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>You know,\u201d Adam said from behind them, \u201cI\u2019ve brought a lot of peo\u00adple to my place. This is the first time they\u2019ve been on their knees in the grass dis\u00adcussing the landscaping.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>What a shame.\u201d Jade looked up at Adam, a lit\u00adtle embar\u00adrassed at her exu\u00adber\u00adance, espe\u00adcial\u00adly in her dress and heels, but she could\u00adn\u2019t stop. \u201cThis Tropae\u00adolum majus\u2026or Monk\u2019s Cress, is one of the species that Dean and I stud\u00adied in Colom\u00adbia. I think we could spend hours out here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>I\u2019d like to take cred\u00adit, but this was all here when I moved in three years ago. All I know about plants can fit into a thim\u00adble, with room to spare. But I should get in the show\u00ader and make myself pre\u00adsentable. You two are wel\u00adcome to look around out here, or come on inside.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jade stood up and dust\u00aded her hands off. From the look on Dean\u2019s face, it was obvi\u00adous he want\u00aded to see what oth\u00ader trea\u00adsures he could find in Adam\u2019s yard.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>If you don\u2019t mind, we\u2019d love to snoop around your gar\u00adden.\u201d Jade gripped both of Adam\u2019s hands. \u201cBut hur\u00adry back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adam kissed her cheek before leav\u00ading the two plant sci\u00aden\u00adtists to their dis\u00adcov\u00ader\u00adies. Jade watched Adam\u2019s retreat, her gaze focused on his ass, shak\u00ading her head at his bag\u00adgy shorts.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>I\u2019d ask how he was in bed, but the look on your face already told me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
