A&nbsp;chal\u00adlenge to authors to write a&nbsp;50,000 word nov\u00adel in 30&nbsp;days. That\u2019s only 1,667 words per day. No prob\u00adlem right? My usu\u00adal min\u00adi\u00admum is <span class=\"caps\">2K<\/span>. Well, I&nbsp;signed up for NaNoW\u00adriMo, know\u00ading I&nbsp;had no plot to work on, but I\u2019m a&nbsp;pantser any\u00adway, so I\u2019ll just start typ\u00ading, and see what comes&nbsp;up.<\/p>\n<p>Well, I&nbsp;got about 1,200 words in before that idea fiz\u00adzled. This makes five nov\u00adels I\u2019ve start\u00aded, and not one of them is speak\u00ading to me. Last night, I&nbsp;start\u00aded yet another.\u00c2&nbsp;I&nbsp;remem\u00adber some\u00adone once telling me that I&nbsp;always got too many things start\u00aded, and nev\u00ader fin\u00adished any. Maybe they were&nbsp;right.<\/p>\n<p>On the oth\u00ader hand, there was a&nbsp;time when I&nbsp;had\u00c2&nbsp;four nov\u00adels going, and would write whichev\u00ader called to me on that par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar day. Not one of them was writ\u00adten quick\u00adly, but they all trudged ahead, and when I&nbsp;final\u00adly did con\u00adcen\u00adtrate on one, it did\u00adn\u2019t take me as long to wrap it up. I\u2019m hop\u00ading for the same outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I&nbsp;should be more dis\u00adci\u00adplined, but cre\u00adativ\u00adi\u00adty does\u00adn\u2019t work very well with discipline.<\/p>\n<p>Deter\u00admi\u00adna\u00adtion is my only moti\u00adva\u00adtor. I&nbsp;want to reach this goal, and I&nbsp;will, even if I&nbsp;have to write <span class=\"caps\">10K<\/span> a&nbsp;day dur\u00ading the last week.
