Ryann came awake in her own bed, with her nose pressed against a patch of hair. Her eyes fluttered open to find Trevor’s armpit. She smiled mischievously. It would serve him right if… She bit the tender skin.

“Ouch! Jesus…that scared the crap out of me.” Trevor rubbed the spot with one hand and cocked his head at her, giving her a retiring look. “What was that for?”

“Your armpit was in my face.”

“Maybe your face was in my armpit.”

I can’t believe this is the last Sunday of August. Summer is almost over, and I’m NOT READY FOR WINTER!! (We don’t get an autumn around here) *sigh*

Anyway, today I’m sharing six from my (Olivia Brynn’s) untitled m/m. (I call it Jackson)

These are actually the first six in the book.

Noah slouched over his whiskey, trying like hell to ignore the dry-humping couple beside him. He’d get up and move, but the place was packed, and he had to hold onto this bar stool or he’d end up standing against the wall. Facing the crowd. That would lead to eye contact. Eye contact led to conversation.

Noah wasn’t here for conversation.

This couldn’t be the spot. The ground below hadn’t been disturbed. Centuries of rain and wind had compacted the earth into one big sandstone. If someone had buried something here, it would be a hell of a lot easier to dig up. It was his own stubborn pride that made him continue digging. She told him this was the wrong place, he just didn’t want to listen. He didn’t want her to be right–not again.

He should probably get used to it. Really. Once they get to the point when they figure out that “she’s always right” things go a lot smoother.

By the time they reached Mario’s car, Carter had talked himself out of whatever crazy place he’d been visiting. “I guess we are a couple of old guys. It’s barely eleven and we’re going home alone.” At the chirp of the lock, Carter got in and buckled up.

Mario fastened his belt and cranked the engine. “I’m not going home alone. I’m going home with you.”

Now I don’t want any comments asking me if Mario speeds out of the parking lot and races home. Got it? It’s not like I choose their names, they just tell me who they are. I’m a pawn I tell ya! And yes, he does like to bounce mushrooms on his head, tyvm.

“I suppose we should discuss this, huh?” Carter scratched his chest; a warm flush left twin spots of rose on his cheeks.

“Tomorrow.” Riley flipped the comforter over them both, then drew Carter into his arms. “Let me bask tonight…we can talk tomorrow.”

His eyes danced over her face for a long moment before lifting his chin with resolve.

“My wife,” he paused over the word, “Laura, is the stable manager.”

She pulled out of his arms and backed a step away; the blood that colored her cheeks now sank to her toes. “Oh, oh God Jake … Jacob. I’m sorry. I didn’t know.” She covered her now-swollen lips with a tremulous hand.

“Yeah.” He adjusted his hat.

Retreat is the book that I always forget that I wrote. When I tell people about my books, I seem to always overlook this one, and when I opened it up today to find six sentences, I kept finding things that I’d forgotten all about. I should read this again! I swear I wrote it!

This week I’m sharing six sentences from my upcoming romantic suspense PreView, which will be published September 5 from Carina Press:

Ryann ground her forehead into her bent arm and leaned into the shower wall. The hot water beat down onto her back. Steam had built to such a level that she was barely able to see the various bottles of beauty products lining the stall. Taking a deep breath was out of the question; the air in the shower was too hot and thick. As much as she wanted to relax and purge her mind of the dream, whenever she closed her eyes it would replay, starting with the deep twisting in her gut.

Something isn’t right.

Tis the weekend for patriotism! Canada Day on Friday, and Independence Day on Monday! I searched through my published books for six patriotic sentences. I couldn’t find any, but I did notice that more than one set of characters enjoy our national pastime. Baseball! I wonder where they get that….*blush* Here are six from my book Fine Print:

“The Braves made it fifteen innings–that run in the end was bullshit and you know it.” Derek spoke into the phone, using his free hand around Kara’s waist to keep her beside him amid the throngs of stadium evacuees. “No way; keep your Angels, man. The Braves are gonna pull out of this slump.”

Kara liked to listen to Derek talk. His voice was commanding, but not abrasive, and low enough to vibrate against her.

I’ll have you know that I don’t like the Braves. At all. But thanks to my cover art request error, I ended up with an Atlanta skyline (I got my books mixed up, okay?) I had to change Derek from a Rangers fan to a Braves fan during edits. I can’t tell you how much that hurt me (Apologies to Braves fan). In consolation, his name is Derek, in homage to the best shortstop in history. *sigh*
